Putting on a show

The ADC Theatre welcomes applications from University, local and professional drama groups wishing to use our facilities. Companies that currently use the theatre on a regular basis include the University's Amateur Dramatic Club, the Cambridge Footlights, the Combined Actors of Cambridge, Bawds Drama Group, The European Theatre Group and English Pocket Opera.

The Theatre normally offers week long slots for performances at either 7.45pm or 11pm. Slots during Michaelmas and Lent Terms are reserved for University drama groups; application procedure deadlines for these slots are published in Varsity and TCS, the University newspapers.

Applications for performances at other times - ie. between Easter and late July, in early October, late December or early January - are welcome from all groups up to a year in advance.

The Theatre charges hiring companies on a box office split system, with the Theatre taking 37% of gross ticket sales. A minimum charge applies; please contact us for more information.

Producing and Publicity at the ADC Theatre

If you are producing a show at the ADC Theatre, there are two documents you may find useful, which detail the resources you can use in the theatre, and some handy guidelines for publicity design. If you have any questions about producing or publicity, do contact the Production Manager or the Marketing Manager.

The Guide to Drama

The Guide to Drama is produced by the Amateur Dramatic Club, and is available on-line. It describes all the roles available in amateur drama, including specific information for putting on a show in Cambridge.

Written for actors, directors, producers and technicians who are relatively new to drama, it is especially useful for first-time producers who need to know what people they need to include in their team. ADC Theatre Box Office
