"You are a singular stroke of a letter in the great Epic of these Crusades. Your rebellion will be counted as a tremor in the hand of a chronicler. The story has already started; This tale must be written. Do not presume to have a say in it.'
Karapinar, Turkey. In the 21st Century, the discovery of a medieval relic unveils hidden history buried with it. Over a thousand years earlier, a group of increasingly-disillusioned Crusaders have crossed Europe to hunt after the same cross. For both, finding it will come at far too large a price.
Archaeologist Florine is split between the past and present as these two time periods collide suddenly, and she begins to question how faith is manipulated by corrupt figures for political and personal gain. Negotiating With The Dead interrogates a fear that we are doomed to reopen the same historical wounds if we let objects and borders define faith more than people.
