Richard III

William Shakespeare

Content warning [May contain spoilers]

It is 1980 and the notorious Yorkist family has finally made peace with their bitter rivals, the Lancasters. Everyone is looking forward to a period of calm under the new head of the families, Edward IV. But Edward's younger brother, Richard, has other ideas.

A political- gangster thriller, in which we watch a cunning, Machiavellian Richard attempt to consolidate his power. Stopping at nothing and no-one we see him scheming, tricking and murdering.

This modern re-adaptation sees Shakespeare's least redeeming character seamlessly slot into the modern world by acquiring the position most suited to them: that of a scheming mobster.

The ADC Theatre is Britain's oldest University playhouse, today administered and maintained by the University of Cambridge. Plays have been presented on the site since 1855, when the Cambridge University Amateur Dramatic Club (CUADC) was founded, and the society met and performed in the back room of the Hoop Inn, which stood almost exactly where the ADC Theatre stands today.  Today, the ADC Theatre is the centre of University drama in Cambridge, run almost entirely by students with no Faculty involvement.

This venue is wheelchair accessible.
