Nightmares begin, and they don’t stop when eyes are open.
On a remote island, three travellers find a single inhabitant: Lolita, a woman with no eyelids, keeping her eyes wet with collected rain. She offers food and shelter, then delivers a warning: anyone who sleeps here will meet the worst nightmares of their life. They don’t listen. When the nightmares come, they’re so brutal the travellers beg for one solution they never imagined: cut off our eyelids, so we can’t sleep again. Lolita agrees. The wounds heal. The days stretch on. And then something stranger begins to happen, they start to drift into sleep with their eyes open.
Lola is a dark, surreal exploration of fear, power, and the unraveling of boundaries, between people, dreams, and waking life.
This production is suitable for ages 16 and over.

The Corpus Playroom is owned by Corpus Christi College, and managed by the University of Cambridge through the ADC Theatre. The College drama society, the Fletcher Players, are the resident company.
The L-shaped studio is Cambridge's primary fringe space, showcasing a variety of productions, with an emphasis on new writing. Seasons are programmed simultaneously with the ADC Theatre.
