Guides and Handbooks

This page is intended to be used as a resource library for anyone involved in shows at the ADC Theatre or Corpus Playroom - you can find guides for various different production roles, information on how to publicise your show and other information for you to be aware of around the theatre!

Venue Handbooks and Key Information

It's advisable to read the handbook for your venue in full before beginning the production process, once your show has been programmed - it contains pretty much everything you need to know about how the theatre works and outlines different stages of the production timeline, as well as the different responsibilities that can be split up between a production team.

There is also a document containing access notes for both the ADC Theatre and Corpus Playroom. Please read this guide carefully to make sure all necessary steps are taken to facilitate disabled performers and technicians - management are here to help with this so please don't hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions! You can find more information about audience accessibility on our webpage here.

Funding Resources

Below are some resources to help you when applying for funding - once you've put an application and proposed budget together, email the Production Manager to ask for an up-to-date list of society contacts to send your application to!

Technical Guides

The guides below are intended to provide an introduction to those who have not performed technical roles in the past, but may also hold interesting information for those more experienced with different disciplines. We hope you find them useful! As always, questions about how things apply to show in reality can be directed to the Technical or Production Manager. Further information for Technical Representatives and Stage Managers can be found in the Production Google Drive in the "Health and Safety Resources" folder.

Guidance on the lighting desk at the Corpus Playroom can be found here (please note that this is an external link).

Intimacy and Consent

The ADC Theatre has a set of intimacy and consent guidelines which have been tailored to theatre in Cambridge. This resource is free for anyone to use, regardless of what show they're involved in - please email the Production Manager to discuss further assistance with choreographing intimacy in theatre.

Tips on Audition Inclusivity

The Cambridge Trans Theatre Collective have put together a document all about being more trans inclusive in the audition process, which can be accessed below. We also have a guide on making identity-conscious theatre from the CUADC Diversity and Inclusion Officer, in collaboration with Bread Theatre and Film.

If you're a director, producer, or involved with the casting of a show (any show) please have a read of both these documents to make sure you're being as open and inclusive to performers as possible. If, after reading, you have any questions please get in touch with the Production Manager, who can put you in touch with the authors of these documents specifically.
